There is not much information on the production of the Modesto Boschi United
Glassworks, and there are no catalogues or price lists to confirm what little
there is.
Much of what we know, we owe to evidence offered by those who worked there.

The Boschi Glassworks' production was rarely of artistic importance, apart from
articles engraved using the copper wheel method.
Here we have displayed several articles of current production, grouping them
together by production type or decoration, while a special section has been
dedicated to the precious wheel-engraved production.

There were many blown or pressed articles made from coloured glass.
Here are a few curious coloured glass dressing table items, which were highly
fashionable in the Forties, as well as a piece which was 'unusual for Colle di
Val d'Elsa', in double-layer, opal blown glass.
Various types of decoration were used in the Boschi factories: as was traditional
in Colle, there were numerous ground articles; other objects were decorated with
small geometrical or floral marks using a stone wheel, while others bore typical
frame decorations created using a pantograph.
There are also a large number of articles rendered precious by gilded decorations.
Hot painting was frequent at the Boschi Glassworks.
The decorative motif was painted onto the glass object using metal oxides, which were
fixed onto the surface by baking in a special oven at a temperature of
500-550°.
